Gravatar has two new updates. One is that you can now use it for an online profile with links to your social accounts, which totally makes sense. The second is that it now has new payment features. That doesn’t, by default, seem like part of a global avatar service.

The Cwicly Spotlight #3 was a mind bomb – Louis-Alexander Désiré outlined two related mega features that are coming soon. The first is the introduction of Components which is like reusable blocks on steroids. The second is the introduction of Tailwind. The way they are implementing Tailwind there won’t be a slowdown in the editor and only classes you add will be included in the Tailwind style sheet. You will be able to use Tailwind components.
You will be able to turn Tailwind on or off, for those who don’t want to use it or prefer a different framework, but the Cwicly library will use Tailwind, which will allow them to provide pre-designed content that is consistently styled.
The were hints how this will play into a future Cwicly theme builder. A very exciting time ahead for Cwicly users.

The WordPress Playground is a relatively new way of running WordPress, i.e. running WordPress in your browser, using SQLite, etc. The idea has caught on and the WordPress Playground has been used at WordCamp contributor days. Now there is an iOS note taking app built on WordPress.
I’d love to see an official slimmed down version of WordPress for projects like this with the parts that need to be deprecated removed.

Pressable hosting has partnered with MainWP to create an extension that lets you create and manage Pressable websites from your MainWP dashboard.
This would be a boon for users of both Pressable and MainWP. However, I expect there may not be that many currently using both. What this does, is gives Pressable a quick dashboard so their users can manage multiple sites. For other hosting companies it may suggest an option worth pursuing.

Kevin Geary is extending the Automatic CSS workflow to include Figma. The ACSS design tokens and Frames that people are used to working with in builders such as Bricks will be available in Figma providing an end-to-end solution. This video provides a sneak peak for those who are interested. There is a wait-list signup for a July launch with teased special offered.

Congrats to the Atarim team! Atarim is a platform for agencies and freelancers for streamlining the client feedback process and for project management. They have a new website that is very attractive. It looks like the site was made with the Hello theme and Elementor.

Development for WordPress 6.3 includes a reorganization and expansion of the Site Editor’s navigation. For example, a Design page might provide a menu for accessing Page, Styles, Navigation, Templates, and Library. The Library interface might include a menu for managing theme parts that you have created, such as headers, footers, post meta, the Site Logo, and a Font Library.

Just as Matt gives a keynote at WordCamp US, so too Drupal founder Dries Buytaert presented the State of the Drupal Project at DrupalCon North America 2023. Drupal was focusing on the importance of innovation and had a contest where project proposals were shared and voted. One of the top projects involves working on Gutenberg for Drupal. In a surprise move, Matt Mullenweg donated funds and personal to help.
