Revolutionary or evolutionary? ZipWP is changing how WordPress sites are built. It combines AI with the top tier Astra theme, Starter Templates, and Spectra blocks. Can you say “synergy”? You can have an attractive brochure site in a couple of minutes, and you can use ZipWP for free. In the video I do a walk-through of the current early version of ZipWP and discuss where I see it in the overall WordPress ecosystem.

I just watched this short video from Paul Charlton that looks at 4 free plugins. Unbloater looks interesting. I use Jeff Starr’s Prismatic plugin for displaying code snippets.

It has been a year since Builderius Pro was released and I took a first look. Now in this video I’m taking a second look by doing a walk-through creating a template for a Custom Post Type and displaying repeater data. We will see some of the new features. I also discuss what the team is doing to get the word out about Builderius.

Here is a comparison from Crocoblock of JetEngine and Toolset. One thing I noticed is that the Toolset Views is only mentioned in relation to Gutenberg. Code-based Views is still considered a powerful and flexible way to work with dynamic data, but Toolset labels it as legacy and only shows it for download for “older sites created with shortcodes,” so yes, it is disappearing.

We often hear about how many millions of WordPress posts are written using Gutenberg and I was curious about which block collections people are using the most. In this video I look at the top 20 most popular Gutenberg block collections by the number of active installs. I show all 20, and there is a table of contents in the video comments. There are some interesting trends found overall that are discussed in the conclusions section at the end.

Here is a comparison from the JetPack team of 7 options for a local development environment. It is not a bad overview, but I was surprised that Local from WP Engine was not included.
