This is a cool use of AI. The WP World has added a multi-language chat where you can chat using your own language and it translates in real time.

After a discussion about the performance hit that translation adds to sites, the Performance Team has prepared a new plugin, Performant Translations. They intend it as a “feature” plugin for testing and use and hopefully eventual inclusion in core.

From the article, the plugin converts translation files to PHP files so they can be handled by OPcache. It appears that this greatly speeds up sites with translations. The files revert if the plugin is removed.
