How Drupal Does Custom Post Types Better

Matt Medeiros @ youtube.com • 2 months ago

WordPress had a “win” with Create Content Model, but instead of embracing it they labeled it an “oops”. I guess despite what some might want to think, WordPress is not acting like a startup. When an entrepreneur sees something stick they jump on it like a $20 bill being blown down the sidewalk. I like how Matt Medeiros subtly suggest that this kind of functionality in core is not really that outrageous or abnormal.

New Progress Planner Plugin for Site Management

Joost de Valk @ wordpress.org • 2 months ago

Joost has a new Progress Planner plugin. This is not a plugin for agencies and freelancers, but rather for bloggers, entrepreneurs, and DIY site owners. Progress Planner gamifies content creation and site maintenance tasks for people who aren’t necessarily “pros” and might need guidance. There is currently a beta of the free version in the WP plugin directory and they are planning a pro version for the future.

Dynamic Data Features Coming to Gutenberg

David McCan @ youtube.com • 2 months ago

A prototype was released showing how to create Custom Post Types and custom fields using the block editor and then display them using the Site Editor. While the project is still new, it demonstrates the thinking and possible direction for Gutenberg. Very cool. In this video we take a look at how this is currently working. It may be some time before this makes it into a WordPress core release, if it every does.
