WordPress org will be moving to Matrix for chat and group discussions. The move has started now with single sign on using your WP org login and a Slack / Matrix bridge so that you can login on either side. There are several Matrix clients, so there will be some choice. This is discussed in this post on the Make blog.
NASA has used WordPress for its blogs. Now they are moving their main site to WordPress. Here is the beta version.

The latest version of the Gutenberg plugin, 16.3, added some features for working with patterns. These won’t be included in the forthcoming 6.3 release of WordPress, but will be in 6.4
