A topic from the past for plugin developers – Many plugins leave their database entries behind when they are deleted from the website. WordPress has an uninstall hook and will run an uninstall.php if it exists. These provide a cleanup option.

There has been a growing movement for some WordPress product companies to collaborate on promoting WordPress through some joint, neutral, marketing initiatives. Miriam Schwab from Elementor has been one of the proponents of this idea. A meeting was held at WPUS to discuss this and move it forward.
The post on the Make blog is a great summary of the discussion and there are a number of good suggestions. I like the idea of focusing less on marketshare and more on community engagement. I also like the focus on promoting WordPress in education.

The NY Post is a very large WordPress multi-site instance that publishes about 300 articles a day, has many authors in the admin writing at the same time, and has a large number of simultaneous visitors. This WCUS presentation gives an overview of the techniques used to scale the site. It is something of a list of things that can go wrong and types of fixes.

I’m logging in and out of WordPress websites all day long. There is a free web browser extension called WordPress Admin Switcher that makes this quicker. It is a nice quality of life enhancement that works on Chrome and Chromium based browsers.

The Core Framework version 1.6 was released with a number of enhancements and fixes. The utility class generation for typography and spacing was made more flexible, they added the ability to disable color groups, and added the ability to copy and paste between breakpoints, among other features.
