The Generate team has released a big jump forward by adding support for creating and managing CSS variables, selectors and classes, a style book and more.

GeneratePress 3.0 Premium will deliver a reinvention of the Elements module. This new feature, named Template Engine, will use modern technology to provide 100% block-built sites that load faster and with greater freedom than either Elements or Block themes can. It will also deliver many Element-related feature requests and a simple, non-destructive upgrade path. GB Pro 2.8 brings Global Styles upgrades and new Design Tokens into a shared design workspace.

The targeted use cases are for contact form and mailing list sign-up. You will be able to use the styling and dynamic data features of GenerateBlocks. This is currently in the 2.6 beta.

Following the user survey, the Generate team said they would give a full response related to support of Full Site Editing. In this article they deliver with a well considered point-by-point discussion of the strengths and weaknesses and FSE and the Generate approach going forward. They decide that FSE does not provide any promised advantages over the GeneratePress / GenerateBlocks combination, but that FSE imposes a number of limitations.

GenerateBlocks Pro 2.2 adds a new Site Header and Navigation blocks. Navigation is one of the weak points in the Site Editor, but most will probably use these with the GeneratePress theme builder.

GenerateBlocks 2.1 alpha was released. It includes a number of refinements such as a styles indicator system, new device visibility options, accessibility improvements, and other updates.
