This is a great tutorial by Roel Nieskens and Kevin Powell showing the flexibility of variable fonts and how you can use them with CSS. I learned about custom axis control features available with some creative fonts.

The Font Library feature coming in WordPress 6.4 will be a nice addition. It will provide a standard way for managing fonts and serving them locally.
