Josepha decided to give direction to the WordPress org’s marketing direction. The dot org’s marketing team and slack channel has been suspended and an Automattic team has been tasked to setup a “Media Corps.” The idea is to identify longstanding WordPress news sources and designate them as media partners who receive regular briefings etc. This is to be a one year experiment. The roadmap for the project was published by the new lead for this initiative.

Anne McCarthy posted a round up of what’s being worked on for WordPress 6.6. It is a very large list. Regarding the Block Binding API for custom fields and a UI for editing them, it is not certain yet if that will ship in 6.6.

ACF Pro version 6.3 beta is out. It includes several enhancements for ACF blocks. The update includes field validation for fields in blocks and the ability to save block field values in post meta (better when using blocks in templates), among other enhancements and fixes.

ElegantThemes has setup a test site where people can try out an early alpha of Divi 5. The interface is looking very slick.

A cool feature of Breakdance is the Element Studio. It is a UI for creating your own Breakdance elements. Breakdance enthusiast Supa Mike used it to create a free ThumbSlider element.

A security researcher alerted MainWP that some customer account information had been found in a large dump of compromised accounts. The notification says the accounts may be ones where users reused their credentials on multiple sites. MainWP reset all passwords and are requiring two factor authentication going forward. The account information is logging into the MainWP website, not ones related to connected sites.
