Here is a thoughtful video from Jonathan Jerrigan responding to Jamie Marsland’s video about whether WordPress needs a rethink in 2025. His conclusion is that the marketing message and target audience are not clear enough.

While some companies are moving away from lifetime packages it is interesting to see some adding them. The Droip team announced that they will be adding a lifetime option later this month. I haven’t tried Droip because as far as I know it does support dynamic data.

Congratulations to the top 5 winners of the WP Awards: ACF, WooCommerce, Elementor, WordFence, and The Admin Bar.
Also congratulations to the winners in their categories.

Joost shares what he sees as the drivers of platform adoption and what he would prioritize for the WordPress roadmap. One conclusion of his is that if it wasn’t for Elementor and WooCommerce then WordPress would have been losing market share.

ACF released the results of their annual survey. There are some interesting results. For example, hybrid theme use has caught up to classic themes and Bricks is the #2 most popular builder among the respondents.

This may be of interest to some. Results of the Front End tech survey. TypeScript is well established now. I was surprised at the percentage of MacOS users.

The Kadence team held their annual Amplify event yesterday. At the end Ben Ritner shared about a new plugin being developed called Kadence Insights. It is used in the Gutenberg editor for A/B testing. Of course it works with Kadence Blocks but is a separate plugin and works with any blocks. Much of the presentation is how to do an A/B test and a look at the UI. It reminds me of If-So.

There has been a growing movement for some WordPress product companies to collaborate on promoting WordPress through some joint, neutral, marketing initiatives. Miriam Schwab from Elementor has been one of the proponents of this idea. A meeting was held at WPUS to discuss this and move it forward.
The post on the Make blog is a great summary of the discussion and there are a number of good suggestions. I like the idea of focusing less on marketshare and more on community engagement. I also like the focus on promoting WordPress in education.
