Drupal is planning their site builder solution and this discussion talks about their considerations for using Gutenberg. It is interesting to see how they evaluate the user experiences, goals, and where Gutenberg doesn’t fit into that vision … kind of along the lines of critiques of our Site Builder.

Josepha decided to give direction to the WordPress org’s marketing direction. The dot org’s marketing team and slack channel has been suspended and an Automattic team has been tasked to setup a “Media Corps.” The idea is to identify longstanding WordPress news sources and designate them as media partners who receive regular briefings etc. This is to be a one year experiment. The roadmap for the project was published by the new lead for this initiative.

Anne McCarthy posted a round up of what’s being worked on for WordPress 6.6. It is a very large list. Regarding the Block Binding API for custom fields and a UI for editing them, it is not certain yet if that will ship in 6.6.

ACF Pro version 6.3 beta is out. It includes several enhancements for ACF blocks. The update includes field validation for fields in blocks and the ability to save block field values in post meta (better when using blocks in templates), among other enhancements and fixes.

Reusable and overrideable patterns are currently available in the Gutenberg plugin and scheduled for WordPress 6.6 in July. Here is a demo of this feature.

With the help of breakdance XSS any user can trick the admin user to execute PHP code without them knowing it. The code is written by the Editor (or any other user role) and later executed unknowingly by the administrator.
