An article from Joost looking at innovation in WordPress, and specifically at plugins. Some interesting findings, suggesting I think that innovation is declining (?). The article doesn’t mention premium plugins as a locus for innovation.

A lot goes into a WordPress release. Md Shahjahan shared a retrospective analysis of the WordPress 6.8 release showing contributor stats. It is an interesting look at what it takes and the fact that it is a world-wide effort involving many people and companies.

Joost shares what he sees as the drivers of platform adoption and what he would prioritize for the WordPress roadmap. One conclusion of his is that if it wasn’t for Elementor and WooCommerce then WordPress would have been losing market share.

The WP Engine tracker says that 24,510 websites left from WP Engine since September 21st. They are now showing where they moved to also.
